He would then achieve an MD three years later, in recognition of his excellent research which specifically focused on adherence to anti-depressants, which was jointly supervised at both Cairo University and the University of Liverpool. 

He completed his specialist training in old age psychiatry in 2010, and then kickstarted his career as a consultant for East London NHS Foundation Trust, where he is currently the lead for mental health care of older people.
